We have had a long but very rewarding day spent providing lighting & Sound to St Augustine’s Parish Centre, Darlington for their Outdoor Nativity Play. The cast all braved the weather and pulled off a great Nativity Play performance with live goats and donkey. It even snowed!  A great production to be involved with, even if we did get wet!

The run up to Christmas is always a busy time for us here at CDB Production Solutions.  Every year we provide sound hire and operation for Sedgefield Town Council Christmas lights switch on.   With carols, snow man parade, funfair and not forgetting the main event – count down to the Christmas lights switch on, its always a great magical event and this year was possibly the best yet.

KSW – Road to Wembley

The biggest mixed martial arts organization in Europe, Poland’s KSW Federation makes history with its first international show, scheduled for October 31st in the famous The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England.

MMA aficionados from all over Britain will be now able to witness the most spectacular combat sports event in the world, featuring some of the most exciting European fighters competing in the KSW’s circular cage.

We were brought on board to provide vision engineering and production services.   Although we have been involved with many other fight events, Poland’s KSW was a first for us.  We look forward to working with them again soon.

Thalidomide Trust annual conference Raddison Blu Hotel, Durham

Thalidomide Trust Annual Conference

Saturday 24th October we were at the Raddison Blu Hotel, Durham for the Thalidomide Trust annual conference. We were responsible for all the sound requirements for the conference. This included live sound, in both rooms, for the people that had attended as well as supplying our very good friends PER Productions audio feeds for their cameras, who were filming so that people who could not attend would be able to watch the workshops online.

Tinie Tempah - Radio 1Xtra - CDB Production Solutions

We were very proud to play our part in providing vision engineering and production services to Radio 1Xtra Live, when they came to Leeds in October 2015.

Radio 1Xtra saw performances from Miguel, WSTRN, Natalie la Rose, Flo Rida, Fekky, Lethal Bizzle, Stormzy, Kid Ink, Krept & Konan with Tinie Tempah headlining.

The event, which has an unrivalled reputation for bringing people together to share live urban music, was hosted by the Radio 1Xtra family with presenters MistaJam and Target broadcasting all the live action from First Direct Arena, Leeds, while Charlie Sloth and Yasmin Evans had you covered on BBC Red Button, where viewers still can watch all the live performances.

 

CDB Production Solution School Show Lighting and Sound

School Shows

The end of the school year is always busy for us, as we work with many schools and colleges supplying our services for their summer school shows and performances.  This year was no exception as we started out providing radio mic hire, sound system and our start cloth backdrop to a local primary school shows of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

We also had a production of le Miserables, which we provided sound, lighting and special effects equipment on a dry hire basis.  This included multiple radio mic channels, various lighting fixtures and control, smoke, haze and pyrotechnic systems.  We were also brought in on one of the performances to facilitate a DVD of the school shows which would be available to the cast, family and friends.

Meantime we also had full technical and production responsibility for The Sound of Music.  This was the first time we had worked with is college, for their school shows and the standard of the production was first class.  We provided all equipment for the production including lighting, sound and visual effect engineers which meant that the teaching staff could really focus on the acting and school orchestra. It was a very well received by audiences and we very much look forward to working with the college on their future school shows.

BAMMA

We were very proud to be asked to play our part in providing vision engineering and production services for BAMMA, The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts.

We worked along side the broadcast facilities team to make sure all the lighting, programmed on a Highend Systems Full Boar 3, looked as good on TV as if you were in the venue.  We received great feedback from the BAMMA event organisers and we look forward to working with them again very soon.

Sedgefield Players entertaining angel's acting dramatics north east

This month have again been working with the Sedgefield Players, who staged their spring show “Entertaining Angel’s”.  The Sedgefield Players are a community based amateur dramatics group who do have their own sound and lighting teams but we were asked to assist with the shows technical requirements and provide additional lighting hire.  The show had a run of great performance from the cast, with a fantastic set and stage crew to go along with them.

BBC Radio 6 Music Festival

BBC Radio 6 Music Festival

2015 saw the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival come to the North East and we were very proud to play our part in providing vision engineering and production services.

BBC Radio 6 Music Festival was broadcasting from the festival across the weekend with the network’s presenters coming live from all the venues, day and night. The station aired many of the performances live from 02 Academy Newcastle and Sage Gateshead, with others recorded and aired in shows later in the week and on future dates.

With the festival’s ever-growing bill of over 50 bands and artists, reflecting the spirit of 6 Music, made for a fantastic 3 days of live music!

Charity Fashion Show Lighting

On Monday 18th March we were in Sedgefield providing lighting and production support, for a charity fashion show by Jayne Ladies Boutique, raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

During our discussions with the event organisers, we were asked to do one thing –  ‘To make it colourful!’  This gave us total freedom with the lighting design.  Our first priority was to make sure the catwalk was evenly lit, so that every single audience member had a great view from wherever they were sitting.  Our second objective was to make the venue ‘colourful’.  This may sound straight forward but with such a wide brief, we  had to carefully consider the overall look we wanted for the charity fashion show, how we would best achieve this, what type of lighting fixtures to use and to consider the colours we could use based on the colours of the outfits the models were going to wear.

We planned our lighting design in advance of the show, so that on the day we could load the equipment into the venue knowing exactly where every lighting fixture was to be placed.  This made setting up much more efficient.  Having a detailed design also enabled use to address all our fixtures in advance at our base, to program the main elements of the charity fashion show into the lighting console and to run a visualizer, giving us a chance to see how it would look.

We received great feedback from the client and they have already booked us for their other charity fashion shows they are putting on this year.
