Coupled with Hog 4 PC, the Hoglet Wing, from Highend Systems, provides the user with a single unified surface, turning a laptop or desktop into a fully-fledged, powerful and intuitive lighting console. Any computer running Hog 4 PC can connect to the Hoglet wing over USB creating a state of the art control surface. Utilizing a similar front panel to all Hog 4 products users will feel right at home. pantomime, Beauty and the Beast

Pantomime

Christmas means pantomimes for us. This year we had three productions to supply and operate at. First it was STEPPS pantomime in Darlington who put on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ – Performed in Bondgate Hall Theatre. We were brought on board to supply, set up and operate the full technical system for them which included the stage lighting rig, with flown Moving Head fixtures and LED units. Radio microphones were also supplied and we mixed the sound for them for the run of the production.

Next we were with the Sedgefield Players who put on their pantomime version of Aladdin. As always great performances from the cast, with a great stage crew to go along with them. We provided Sound, including radio mic systems and playback along with lighting and effects which consisted of full stage lighting, smoke machines, UV and pyrotechnics.

The third was with STARS in Darlington, who put on their performance of The Adventures of Mr Toad at St Augustine’s Parish Centre. Not strictly a pantomime but a “child friendly musical” with “goodies” and baddies”. We work a lot with STARS, who have a great team, which we have been involved with for many years. This year the show had grown in size and what we supplied had to match. With a small orchestra / band in the pit, we had plenty of work in sound to do, including using radio microphones with the cast. Lighting was full stage lighting, with moving head fixtures. All that combined with a moving smoke effects, it was a great show to be involved with!

Nativity Play Sound and Lighting

We have had a long but very rewarding day spent providing lighting & Sound to St Augustine’s Parish Centre, Darlington for their Outdoor Nativity Play. The cast all braved the weather and pulled off a great Nativity Play performance with live goats and donkey. It even snowed!  A great production to be involved with, even if we did get wet!

KSW – Road to Wembley

The biggest mixed martial arts organization in Europe, Poland’s KSW Federation makes history with its first international show, scheduled for October 31st in the famous The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England.

MMA aficionados from all over Britain will be now able to witness the most spectacular combat sports event in the world, featuring some of the most exciting European fighters competing in the KSW’s circular cage.

We were brought on board to provide vision engineering and production services.   Although we have been involved with many other fight events, Poland’s KSW was a first for us.  We look forward to working with them again soon.

CDB Production Solution School Show Lighting and Sound

School Shows

The end of the school year is always busy for us, as we work with many schools and colleges supplying our services for their summer school shows and performances.  This year was no exception as we started out providing radio mic hire, sound system and our start cloth backdrop to a local primary school shows of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

We also had a production of le Miserables, which we provided sound, lighting and special effects equipment on a dry hire basis.  This included multiple radio mic channels, various lighting fixtures and control, smoke, haze and pyrotechnic systems.  We were also brought in on one of the performances to facilitate a DVD of the school shows which would be available to the cast, family and friends.

Meantime we also had full technical and production responsibility for The Sound of Music.  This was the first time we had worked with is college, for their school shows and the standard of the production was first class.  We provided all equipment for the production including lighting, sound and visual effect engineers which meant that the teaching staff could really focus on the acting and school orchestra. It was a very well received by audiences and we very much look forward to working with the college on their future school shows.

We were very proud to be asked to play our part in providing vision engineering and production services for BAMMA, The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts.

We worked along side the broadcast facilities team to make sure all the lighting, programmed on a Highend Systems Full Boar 3, looked as good on TV as if you were in the venue.  We received great feedback from the BAMMA event organisers and we look forward to working with them again very soon.

Room Mood Lighting

We were asked by Heineken to provide a bespoke room mood lighting package for a conference dinner they were holding in the marquee at Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham. Room mood lighting is a great way of transforming any space and creating the right atmosphere for an event.

We installed the room mood lighting in the main room and entrance way to give an instant ‘wow’ factor as the guests arrived. We used all LED fixtures meaning we could make the marquee look amazing, whilst keeping it tidy, have a very low power draw and generate virtually no heat. Very important for marquees!

Disco Room Lighting

We were asked to provide a bespoke room lighting, projector and mobile disco package for a surprise 50th Birthday Party.

We installed room lighting in the main room and entrance hall to give an instant ‘wow’ factor as the guests arrived. We used all LED fixtures meaning we could make the room look amazing, whilst keeping it tidy, have a very low power draw and generate virtually no heat. We were asked to wash the room in a rich pink / purple colour, but once our mobile disco started we had full control of the room lighting enabling us to change the room any colour we wanted and create some stunning effects.

We also provided a HD 3D projector allowing the guests to view large screen images and videos of friends and family memories, which was also used during the speeches.  The night finished with us providing our Mobile Disco services, rounding the night off!

This month have again been working with the Sedgefield Players, who staged their spring show “Entertaining Angel’s”.  The Sedgefield Players are a community based amateur dramatics group who do have their own sound and lighting teams but we were asked to assist with the shows technical requirements and provide additional lighting hire.  The show had a run of great performance from the cast, with a fantastic set and stage crew to go along with them.

Charity Fashion Show Lighting

On Monday 18th March we were in Sedgefield providing lighting and production support, for a charity fashion show by Jayne Ladies Boutique, raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

During our discussions with the event organisers, we were asked to do one thing –  ‘To make it colourful!’  This gave us total freedom with the lighting design.  Our first priority was to make sure the catwalk was evenly lit, so that every single audience member had a great view from wherever they were sitting.  Our second objective was to make the venue ‘colourful’.  This may sound straight forward but with such a wide brief, we  had to carefully consider the overall look we wanted for the charity fashion show, how we would best achieve this, what type of lighting fixtures to use and to consider the colours we could use based on the colours of the outfits the models were going to wear.

We planned our lighting design in advance of the show, so that on the day we could load the equipment into the venue knowing exactly where every lighting fixture was to be placed.  This made setting up much more efficient.  Having a detailed design also enabled use to address all our fixtures in advance at our base, to program the main elements of the charity fashion show into the lighting console and to run a visualizer, giving us a chance to see how it would look.

We received great feedback from the client and they have already booked us for their other charity fashion shows they are putting on this year.
